Rep. Katie Corridor (1938-2012)
Democratic chief Katie Corridor was born in rural Mississippi and moved to Indiana in 1960. She taught in Gary earlier than serving within the Indiana Normal Meeting, 1974-82. Corridor grew to become the primary African American U.S. Consultant from Indiana, serving 1982-85. Throughout her tenure, she authored and sponsored the invoice that made Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a federal vacation.
